Crafting + Sustaining Delight
Through Human-Centered Design

I’m an experienced interaction designer specializing in advancing dementia care, with over 30 years of expertise spanning technology, culture, early childhood development, and cognitive health. My career underwent a fundamental shift when I began focusing on creating interactive environments that foster delight and enhance the quality of life for those with dementia.

I believe that delight is a powerful catalyst for engagement, especially in dementia care. By designing personalized, adaptable, and multisensory experiences, I help improve outcomes and foster meaningful connections for individuals with later-stage dementia. A platform I developed not only enhances resident well-being but also equips care teams with tools to manage content, track observations, and tailor interactions to individual cognitive and emotional needs.

My work integrates design, cognitive science, technology, and clinical practice to support individuals and caregivers across diverse demographics and settings. I focus on developing inclusive, evidence-based interactions on an institutional scale, applying research, prototyping, and rigorous testing to improve functional abilities and well-being.

Passionate about human-centered design, I strive to positively impact both individuals and institutions. I explore how emerging technologies, such as low-impact sensors and AI, can refine care and enrichment strategies throughout various stages of cognitive progression.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Studio Art from the University of Colorado and a Master’s in Design from Stanford University.
